I only have one existential question for today.

Why do cats throw up on the rug (or bed/chair/couch) when a bare floor is inches away and so much easier to clean up?

Because they can.

I like Ms. Moon's answer. My dog has never managed to barf on a solid surface, only carpets, preferably the ones that are attached to the floor permanently. Maybe they like the extra traction for puking. Or maybe they like watching us clean. It's one of life's ickier mysteries.

Because they can!!!!! and traction is important.

They also drool, but that's another issue, entirely.
