How I'm spending the day:

after the guys came to wash the windows (I was still in my pajamas, of course) at 8 AM and the phone rang with someone in labor and the dog was barking his fool head off. Deb was remarkably composed. She just thought I was overreacting a bit. After all haven't I been called to births for years anyway?

I'm better now. I've arranged myself, as you can see, in my 'do and silky peach gown. Although my bodice still heaves a bit.

And we're gonna go see Mavis Staples tonight. Should be splendid.

Mavis Staples is a holy woman.
As are you.

Another photo header in which to become lost - beauty in decay and unidentified vapor. You are elegant in your do, etc. As she sang in a segment not part of the stage show in THE LAST WALTZ, Mavis Staples turned The Band's "The Weight" into something unheard before. Ms. Moon is quite right. xo

Dear Darling Beth, I received your gift yesterday. You are so generous it makes my eyeballs explode into stars.

Oh, Mavis. I love her. As Ms. Moon and Marylinn mentioned, she owns the stage. She, Wilco and my not so secret rock crush Nick Lowe sang "The Weight" and it was magic.

Oh, I'm glad you got to see her. BUt mostly I'm glad you've got such a fine peach outfit to wear for relaxing at home.
