Today I remember Thich Nhat Hanh. beautiful teacher. He is recovering from a stroke. May he be well. May he be at peace. May he be free.
“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free.”
― Thích Nhất Hạnh, The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation

I've been following this off and on and now on for a while. I keep wondering how his followers there at Plum are saying that they pray for his recovery, and then I think, but he's so very old, has lived such a magnificent life, and it makes me wonder. I did a walking meditation with him many years ago in New York City. A small group of us walked about ten blocks in five hours. It was intense and one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced.
Hi Elizabeth-I feel the same way. I'm sitting with him now as he is and allowing his life/death to unfold as it will. He IS an old man and maybe it's time for him to die.
At my sangha this Thursday, I'll ask this question-what is the right way to help Thay now? I don't know.
