One of my heroes has gone.

I heard her speak once at a conference. With towering white hair,  she came on stage, bosom preceding her (as my mother would say, 'like the prow of a ship'). And yes, she talked about the 'psycho-sexual experience of childbirth' in her clipped British accent. I've never been the same since.

Oh, I love that picture of her in her garden, and what her husband says.

Oh, wow, yes. I had her books when I was pregnant with Sophie. I love this obit -- particularly what her husband said of her last three months. What a woman. What a life.

Yes, me too. I'm so glad I got to see her speak and meet her. It was her book, 'Birth Your Way' that convinced my husband that home birth would be the right choice to make.

I'm so sad, and my reaction was, oh, so soon! - and yet - she lived a long and profoundly important life. It's selfish of me to suggest she should have given us any more! Icredible woman.

She was a powerful force for the rights of women when even our most basic right- the right to give birth as we have evolved to do- had been taken away.
I am grateful she lived on this planet.

She really inspired me and made me look forward to giving birth at home.
Her husband said today that she had a home death - I want one too.
